This item is a replica of the legendary basket hilt Scottish Claymore. This weapon gained its fame and notoriety from its use by the Highlanders in their rebellions against the English during the 1700s. This sword is still a part of the formal uniform of the soldiers the British Army’s Highland Division, formed from the amalgamation of the old Highland Regiments. Measuring 40" in length, this broadsword features a heavy 32 1/2" carbon steel blade and matching scabbard. The leather basket surrounding the handle is lined with bright red material and flanked with solid brass to provide complete hand protection while allowing for a solid grip.
